Product Verification of Conformity (PVoC)
Companies exporting to Tanzania are required to undergo a conformity assessment under the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) program before shipment. This program, administered by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), aims to ensure that imported products comply with Tanzania Technical Regulations and TBS standards.
Exports without a pre-shipment conformity verification may face rejection, delays, or penalties at Tanzania customs. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you contact our expert team for product verification based on GTIP (State Tariff Tariff) before export.
PVoC Certification Process and Documents
Under the Tanzania PVoC program, product conformity is inspected by authorized inspection agencies. The process consists of the following steps:
Application and GTIP inspection: This determines whether the product falls within the PVoC scope.
Technical inspection: The product's technical files, test reports, and labels, which comply with TBS standards, are evaluated.
Testing procedures, if necessary: Accredited laboratory tests may be requested.
Physical inspection: A visual inspection is conducted in the factory or warehouse environment before loading.
CoC (Certificate of Conformity): This is issued for a shipment-specific product and is mandatory for customs presentation.
Note: The CoC is only valid for that shipment. Shipments without this document cannot be processed through Tanzania customs.
