What is SASO?
SASO, whose full name is Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, is a government agency affiliated to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It ensures the determination of the necessary regulations for all products entering circulation in the Kingdom, the establishment of standards, and the determination of the necessary certification methods in import and export. In addition, SASO authorizes companies to perform certification based on its own regulations.
What is SASO Certification?
SASO Certificate, currently known as Product Conformity Certificate (PCoC), is a certificate provided by certification bodies authorized by SASO via the SABER portal. Currently, it is known in the market as SABER Certificate, SASO Certificate, SASO Certificate, SABER Certificate. However, not every product group can obtain PCoC via the SABER portal on a product basis. For example, for cosmetic products, if you are an institution affiliated with SASO, the product registration process is carried out by SFDA (Saudi Food and Drug Authority), and then the certificate is issued under the name of SASO Certificate via FASEH, which is also a certification system of the Kingdom. If your products are electronic, it should be checked whether they are within the scope of G-Mark and this certification service should be provided, if your products are lighting, an IECEE recognition certificate should be issued via the jeem1 portal, which is also a portal of SASO, and whether your products require an Energy Efficiency Label should be checked via SLS (Saudi Label System). To find answers to more questions like these, you can contact the CERTPLUS expert staff and find the most accurate answers to all your questions.
What is the SABER Registration Process?
As a result of the examinations made on the SABER portal according to the GTIP code of your products, the Technical Regulation determined by SASO is determined. If your products are within the scope of these regulations, your products are registered on the SABER portal of the importer located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During this registration process, detailed information such as product brand, model, product name, manufacturer name and address are added to the system.
What is the SABER Certificate?
Again, the certification referred to as SABER Certificate in the market is the conformity assessment process of products registered through the SABER portal by organizations approved by SASO. This process takes place according to the assessment stages specified by the technical regulation required for the certification phase of the product. For example, some products are assessed according to Type 1a, some products Type 3 and some products Type 5 product conformity assessment methods. While Type 1a assessment is assessed with parameters such as the test report, label information and product information of the product, factory inspection is involved in the Type 3a method. The Type 5 method is a longer-term method called SASO Quality Mark, where the factory is certified. All these methods and assessment stages are determined by the CERTPLUS technical team according to SASO regulations as a result of the HS code review of your products. As a result of the request made through the SABER portal, the selected authorized assessment organization requests the necessary documents from the applicant company according to the technical regulations of the product and carries out the assessment process. As a result of the assessment, the Product Conformity Certificate (PCoC) valid for 1 year is published on the system with the certification decision given.
What is Shipment Certificate?
It is a certificate issued with the approval of the conformity assessment body authorized by the relevant SASO, based on the Commercial Invoice prepared for each shipment to Saudi Arabia for products registered through the SABER portal and having a Product Conformity Certificate (PCoC). This certificate is issued only for those products for the 1 year that the PCoC, which is the conformity certificate of the products, is valid. It is called Shipment Certificate.
Are My Products In Scope Under SASO?
SASO, which has a certification system with more than 50 technical regulations, uses the HS Code of your product as a basis to determine which certification scope your products are in. For this, it will be sufficient to communicate the HS Code of your product to the CERTPLUS technical team before export to know the most accurate requirements.
Is Testing Mandatory for My Products for Certification?
When your products are examined, if they are within the scope of SASO certification, they must be tested by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory in the parameters specified by SASO/GSO standards specified by SASO Technical Regulation. The general acceptance period of these tests is 1 year. With its extensive subcontractor laboratory infrastructure, CERTPLUS offers accredited testing services to its valued customers in all parameters required by SASO Technical regulations.
Is a Factory Audit Required for Certification?
As a result of the HS code review conducted on your products, the Technical Regulation published by SASO determines the Type of your product evaluation process. If this evaluation process will be Type 3, the Factory Inspection process must be carried out by for certification. When you contact our company for more details on this subject, our technical staff will provide you with a more detailed answer.
